Experiential motorcycle trip within Ladakh.

Experience the ‘Moon land’, Ladakh on a motorcycle.

The plan: You would be riding, in and around Leh, through easier and tough terrains, between beautiful valleys and besides stunning lakes.
We would stay in Ladakhi homestay, tents and be connected with the locals.

This experiential motorcycle trip is to give you a feel of the real Ladakh.

Loacted 15 Km east of the famous Fotu La pass on the Leh-Srinagar highway, Lamayaru is popularly known as moonland by the local due to its peculiar land surface which closely resembles the surface seen on moon. The mystique of the Lamayaru monastery located here is unmatched by any other in the entire Ladakh region. The clear blue skies meet the rugged horizon of broken mud cliffs creating an atmosphere of lunar surface which has a powerful impact on the first time viewer’s psyche.

Day 1 -Arrive in Leh- Acclimatize

Acclimatization is necessary, to get used to the arid climate and the high altitude. In the evening, get used to your motorcycle.

Day 2 -Around Leh

Our first day ride would be to the world famous monasteries – Shey , Thiksey and Hemis and few other local interesting places. Stay in Leh in hotel.

Day 3 -Leh – Likir - 50kms ride

Today would be an interesting 50km peaceful ride, along the Indus river to reach Likir. It is perhaps most famous for the nearby Klu-kkhyil (meaning “water spirits”) Gonpa (Buddhist monastery). The Likir Monastery was first built in the 11th century and was rebuilt in the 18th century, and currently has a 25-foot-tall (7.6 m) gold-covered Buddha statue.

Here we will spend a night in a Home-Stay.

Day 4 -Likir to Lamayuru - 70kms ride

Todays 70kms ride would take us to the moon.

Lamayuru is known for its monastery, and for its “lunar” landscape – quaintly promoted as a “Moonscape” for tourists. The landscape is certainly incredible with its spectacularly odd geological formations.

Lamayuru monastery is ancient, built into the ‘moonscape’. Lamayuru is one of the largest and oldest gonpas in Ladakh, with a population of around 150 permanent monks residents. It has, in the past, housed up to 400 monks, many of which are now based in gonpas in surrounding villages.

Hotel/home stay in Lamayuru.

Day 5 -Lamayuru to Alchi - 60 kms ride

Todays the ride is about 60kms to Alchi.

Alchi is situated on the banks of Indus River off Leh – Srinagar road .

The village is famous for the existence of one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh (a national heritage) Alchi Monastery, mainly known for its magnificent, and well-preserved 11th- or 12th-century wall paintings, all in an Indo-Himalayan style.

We will spend a night here in a home stay.

Day 6 -Alchi – Leh – Stok - 92 kms ride

Today’s ride to Leh back would be around 66 kms.
After a nice rest in Leh , we would ride to Stok village in the evening and come back to Leh.
The village is home to the 14th century Stok Monastery, with its 71 feet high seated Gautama Buddha statue, constructed between 2012-2015 and consecrated by HH the Dalai Lama on 8 August 2016.

Overnight stay in Leh.

Day 7 -Leh – Khardungla – Nubra Valley

Today is a long day of skilled riding for around 126kms .
We would cross the epic world’s highest motorable road “Khardunga Pass” at 18,379 ft.
Crossing the pass we would enter the Nubra valley and would spend the night in the beautiful village of Hunder.

Day 8 -Nubra to Pangong via Shyok - 173 kms

Todays is the most exciting & beautiful ride along the Shyok river to reach the mersmirising Pangong lake.Stay in tents at Pangong lake.
