The trek to Goechala starts in Yuksom, where the motorable road ends at an altitude of 1770 meters. It takes approximately seven and a half days to reach Goecha la and return to Yuksom. Key halting points are Sachen, Bakkhim, Tshoka, Phedang, Dzongri, Kokchurong,Thansing and Lamuney. The initial days of the trek proceeds through dense forest cover, enters bugyals, and ends in rocky terrain. The trek is highlighted by the presence of rhododendrons of various colours during the month of may.

Day 6 - Dzongri - Thangsing trek- (13,000 ft)- 8kms

After breakfast trail descends approx. 350m steep down to Kokchurung at the bank of river Preckchu. The walk down the hill is mostly through the rhododendron bushes. After crossing the river it is gradual climb to Thangsing passing through the silver fir and rhododendron forest. Lunch at Thangsing. O/N camp

Day 7- Thansing to Samiti lake -Lamuyune trek - (14,000 ft)- 8kms

The trail is slight climb and it passes along the banks of the Prekchu river and the moraines. On the way one can see the herds of Yaks grazing on the meadows. O/N camp

Day 8- Samiti lake -Lamuyune to Goechala pass(15,300 ft) back to Thangsing - (13,000 ft) - 14kms

Wake-up early in the morning at around 3:30 AM and after tea walk up to Goechala. There will be packed breakfast. The trail is steep and passes through the moraines of Mt. Pandim . From the view point you climb down and walk through the flat and sandy area of Zemathang and then slowly climb up to Goechala pass which takes about 4 hrs. From here you can get the close view of the massive Mt. Khangchendzonga 8585m. After a while trek back to Samiti which takes around 2 hrs. Rest for a while and then trek to Lamini for lunch and then trek back to Thangsing for overnight camping. O/N camp

Day 9 - Thansing to Tshoka trek - (9,700 ft)

Day 10 - Tsokha to Yuksam trek

Today you descend to the Prek Chu following the route you took up on the first day, and then contour gradually downwards to reach the village of Yuksam our starting point.
