an exciting and “clouds” trek to the King of forts –
Rajgad near Pune, we are back again with more life.
This Sunday i.e 29th June 2008, we will trek to fort
Visapur , near Lonavala.
This trek is also recommended for first

As
ever, we will take the less traveled road to the top, crossing valley

Imp: While we climb we shall not disturb the lazy water buffaloes.

Fort
details & History
Visapur - Hill fort, 1084
mtrs asl.
A secondary fort made by Balaji Vishwanath during 1713-1730 A.D.
A larger fort than Lohagad, its majestic, long, rampart still commands
attention and respect. The fortification and gates at other places are
in ruins. The fortifications were blown up by East India Company.
The
history of Visapur is linked
with that of Lohagad. It was built at a time when the importance if forts
had started declining. Visapur is larger than Lohagad. It is also higher
nd thus commands Lohagad, a fact that was made use of by the east India
Company troops who bombarded Lohagad by batteries set up on Visapur Its
is, therefore, surprising that the Bahamanis should have chosen the hill
of Lohagad than Visapur for their fort.
