The hill station Darjeeling ( 2134m) is on the southeast rim of the Singalila
ridge that forms part of the Darjeeling Hills.
For most travellers, Darjeeling consists of the large township that sprwals
along the ridges of the Darjeeling hills. Yet the outlying regions of
the district provide fine opportunities fo trekking and remarkable views
of Kanchunjunga.

Sikkim:
The Himalayan state of Sikkim was incorporated in to the INdion
Union in 1975. Since then the Indian government has maintained tight control
over its border regions with Tibet (China). While travel restrictions
on teh areas of north of gangtok haev been relaxed recently, the only
area currently open to trekkers is in the vincinity of Yuksam in southern
Sikkim.
