Trek to Nakhind
This Sunday i.e 8th August 2010, we plan a one-day trek to Nakhind – a gentle hill excellent for leisurely walk, near Matheran, Maharashtra.

As ever, we will take the less traveled road to the top, crossing streams, valley of flowers, thru’ clouds, rice fields, quiet hamlets and a promise to keep these mountains clean.
Imp: While we climb we shall not disturb the lazy water buffaloes

It has a long summit ridge connected to the Matheran range.
It has Peb fort connected to it .

The Plan:
Date: 8th August 2010, Sunday (one-day trek)

Assemble at : Sion circle – 7 am sharp ( various pick up points , we will take the following route : Sion Circle – Chembur – Vashi – Nerul – Belapur – Panvel – Express highway – Lonavala Exit – Karjat - Vangani( Base village)

Trek details
Grade of trek: easy – recommended for beginners.

Duration: 2 to 3 hours ( trekking time to the top)

Nakhind height: 704m / 2311ft asl.

List of things to carry
• light cotton track pants or shorts
• cotton t shirts
• water bottle ( min 1ltr)
• glucose
• some snacks
• good trekking shoes ( waterproof)
• walking stick - optional
• extra one pair of clothes
• towel
• carry everything in a day pack inside plastic covers to keep them dry
• camera and binoculars - optional
• torch with extra batteries
• rain proof jacket
• sun cap
