CAMP ADVENTURE
“A sound mind within a sound body” is what we would absolutely
agree to. CAMP ADVENTURE is a back-to-basics camp for children, away from
suffocating confines of a schoolroom … away from the millennium
bug, text messaging, television cartoons, dust, traffic-noise and air
pollution.
Children’s CAMP
ADVENTURE will be held on the beautiful hill countryside of Pune, about
200 kms away from Mumbai & 50kms from Pune near village Velhe, sitting
on the banks of Taal lake, which itself is a tribute to nature’s
inimitable beauty.
The camp is for three days, from 24th April to 26th April, with departure
from Mumbai on 24th morning.
Children from the ages between ten (8) to fourteen (14) are eligible.
Camp enrollment will be limited to a minimum of ten (10) and a maximum
of twenty(40).
1. PRIMARY GOALS
a. To instill in the child a healthy regard for nature & outdoors.
b. To develop in her or him a sense of independence.
c. To introduce various skills in the natural surroundings of workshop.
d. To kindle the spirit of team effort.
2. AUXILIARY
GOALS
a. To induce fresh interests in the child that may not have developed
previously.
b. To get the child to realize the problems facing our surroundings.
c. To make the child nature friendly & aware of the fact that he or
she can make a lot of difference to the current scenario of environmental
degeneration.
d. To teach the child to channelize his or her mind & body in a proper
way.
e. To inculcate values of tolerance, non-discrimination, love & understanding.
f. To develop traits of leadership in the child.
3. LOCATION,
FACILITIES AND SCHEDULE
a. CHILDREN’S CAMP ADVENTURE will be held at a beautiful countryside
of Pune, 160kms away from Mumbai, near Lonavala,80kms from Pune, sitting
on the banks of Andhra Lake, which itself is a tribute to nature’s
inimitable beauty.
b. There are no room-facilities. We encourage camping at the campsites
that are already researched by our trained coordinators.
c. Tents will be provided on site with 8 kids per tent, depending on the
tent size.
d. A staff of experienced counselors (three for a group of 15), well-versed
in various mountaineering sports, will supervise children’s activities
during the entire camp-module.
e. Toilets will be in Toilet blocks.Separate wings for Ladies and Gents
with, basins, toleits a& Showers.
f. Food will be catered although the kids will be taught ‘camp-cooking’
as a subject of mountaineering.
g. Various subjects of mountaineering & outdoor camping will be taught
in the two days period.
h. The schedule of the camp will be from Friday to Sunday (24th April
to 26th April 2009). Departure for the campsite will be on 24th April
morning.
i. Children from the age of 8 to 14 are eligible.
j. Camp enrollment will be limited to a minimum of 10 and maximum of 40
children.
4. LECTURES
AND WORKSHOPS DURING “CAMP ADVENTURE “
a. Subjects offered
will be in the form of lectures, combined with practical and on-the-spot
workshops. Each topic will be briefly summarized as an overview, purpose
of which is to provoke interest in the child for the purpose of future
development. Experts in their fields will serve as workshop conductors.
b.
CAMP ADVENTURE SAMPLE MODULE
Day 1 - Friday, April 24th
6:00 a.m. Assembly point at Sion Circle opposite Cinemax Theater.
- A non air-conditioned vehicle will transport the children to the campsite,
accompanied by the camp counselors.
- Breakfast on the way
- Arrival at the camp site. Registration, Briefing, pitching of tents
and orientation lecture on the mechanics and the virtues of camp-life
- 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. – Lunch break
- 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. - A talk on mountaineering – ( How to tackle
basic mountaineering, tent pitching, working with ropes, camp cooking
and environmental impact)
- 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. – Continuation of mountaineering workshop with
trekking in nearby hillsides.
- 6:00 p.m. to Sundown – Meditation & Sunset watching.
- 7:00 p.m. - Dinner
- 8:30 p.m. - Preparation for sleeping
Day 2 – Saturday,
April 25th
5:30 a.m. - Wake-up call, bathroom rituals
6:00 a.m. - Sunrise watching & moderate exercise.
7:00 a.m. - Breakfast
8:00 to 12:00 noon - A series of adventure and game-based physical activities,
for the purpose of team building, problem solving and individual self-improvement
12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. – Lunch break
1:00 to 4:00 p.m. – Art lecture, workshop and a group painting
4:00 to 6:00 p.m.- Clay modeling workshop
6:00 p.m.800 pm - Group activities / contests in self-cooking, card making,
games, etc.
8:30 p.m. – Dinner
9:30 p.m. - Preparation for Sleeping
Day 3 - Sunday, April
26th
5:30 a.m. - Wake-up call, bathroom rituals
6:00 a.m. – Packing of bags & gear, pulling down the tents.
7:00 a.m. - Breakfast
8:00 to 12:00 noon - A series of adventure and game-based physical activities,
for the purpose of team building, problem solving and individual self-improvement
12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. – Lunch break
1:00 pm. –
Distribution of camp-certifications of various contests and a good-bye.
- Departure for Mumbai by a non-air conditioned vehicle
Note :
- Parents can
receive the children at Sion Circle opposite Cinemax Theater, where the
trip will terminate. Parents can also opt to pick up their kids anywhere
during the bus-route ( Please refer to the ‘Bus route’ document)
- We will not drop or leave any child unattended. We request the parents
to be present wherever the child is wished to be dropped on route.
5. RULES
AND REGULATIONS
a. Tents will be provided but children should bring their own blankets,
pillows, sleeping bags, towels & shorts.
b. Child’s medical history is required.
c. Any parent can contact or coordinate on a cellular phone with the camp-counselors
only.
d. No child will be allowed to cut short the three-day camp session unless
authorized by parents or for the reason of extreme sickness.
e. All children will have to attend all sessions unless excused for a
medical reason.
f. Children carrying their cell-phones are totally responsible for it.
g. No junk food will be allowed to be carried or bought during the entire
camp module.
h. Children should carry the items mentioned in the list of ‘things
to carry’.
i. Bottled Water will be provided in the bus journey. Hygienic, boiled
water will be provided during the camp,
j. Decision of the camp-organizer and camp-counselors on all matters of
conflict is final.
k. At the end of the camp module, children who successfully completed
the two-day period will be given the certification of completion.
l. Registration fees include transport charges, tents for sleeping, breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
m. NOTE: Please bring comfortable attire, towels.
6. REGISTRATION
a. Registration form to be fully filled along with one passport size recent
photo of the child.
b. Please complete the form by filling the Indemnify form also.
c. Registration fees are Rs. 3000/- for each child, for a group of minimum
of 10 participants and maximum of 40 only
d. Please make crossed cheque payments in favour of “LIFE AWAY FROM
LIFE“
e. Our representatives can also pick-up the payment at your convenience.
